Tama … our ‘baby girl’ … was put to sleep only a few days after we moved up to the house. At over 20 years old she has been with us practically all of our married life but she never looked more than a few years old with her pink nose and silver tabby fur. We used to call her Benjamin Button as she never seemed to age, so we were obviously very shocked and upset when she finally gave in to her old age. After spending the last two and a half years with us in the caravan as we looked for our new home, our little cat has left a very big hole in our lives … but have lots of wonderful photos and memories to help us remember her.
We miss her snoring, her warbles when you stroked her whilst she was asleep, her getting up from her bed when she heard us arrive back in the car and waiting patiently on the sofa for us to open the door so she could greet us and rummage through any shopping bags we may have with us, her evening cuddles with Marcus whilst watching television, and her night time cuddles with me under the covers if it was cold. But Italy was the place for her to end her years … she loved my homemade ‘ragu’, the vanilla cream of a ‘tiramisu’ and was partial to a bit of ‘mortadella’ if the fridge was open … and of course the odd nibble of ‘parmigiano’!
And as sad as it was for her to leave so soon after we got to the house, we believe that she decided it was the perfect place to leave us to start the next chapter of our lives.
She will be missed every day.
